Here’s a list of words related to baking and their meaning. It will contain common phrases related to baking too. This is all designed to help fellow bakers and it useful to refer to if you’re ever confused about a word in one of my recipe’s. Hope it helps!

• ban-marie. This is a delicate type of cooking method and is also referred to as a water bath. It is when you place the custart, tart etc in a dish filled with hot/boiling water. You then cook this gently. This keeps a lower, more even temperature when baking in the oven.
